Ramahyuck District Aboriginal Corporation Governance Audit

Client: Ramahyuck District Aboriginal Corporation. August 2026 to October 2026.

Karabena Consulting was engaged by Ramahyuck District Aboriginal Corporation to undertake an independent audit of its board governance. Working with the board and staff on Gunaikurnai Country in Sale, we reviewed a year of board decision-making against the ORIC Corporate Governance Principles and the ACNC Governance Standards, with close attention to the contribution of working directors at the board table.

The work combined a site visit with the board and staff in September 2026, a minutes-based audit instrument tracing decisions across thirteen board meetings, and a review of the Rule Book, policies and committee arrangements. We delivered nine major deliverables, a governance instrument set the board can apply to its future meetings, and a governance report carrying twenty-nine tiered recommendations. The recommendations give the board a sequenced pathway, so that immediate priorities can be acted on while longer-term reform is built, strengthening the foundations for self-determination through accountable, community-controlled governance.
